Zen dac vs schiit stack12/2/2023 Will they provide better sound than a laptop They get loud enough on my laptop and there is no hissing or anything, though I miss a bit more volume on them. But I know a little bit about dacs and amps and was wondering a couple of things about them. ago Thanks I'll look into the Fiio k5 pro but the schiit stack just looks so good hahaha NothingMuch12 2 yr. 14 Likes 2 1 Hi, I purchased the Hd560s when they came out and I love them. Fiio k5 pro is also a great combo pick WhaddupDo 2 yr. It was unexpected for me, and remarkable. The 1990 impedance raises well above this at certain frequencies. All of the sudden, all that extra "headroom" between the maximum capability of my power source and the power needed to drive them to "loud" listening levels meant they got a lot more quick/dynamic/responsive on the lower end. I still prefer my Audeze LCD-2C and Fostex TR-X00's for "modern" music (or anything with a lot of punchy mid-bass and sub-bass), but the HD-6XX's got a whole new facelift off the Jotunheim's XLR output. But using the single-ended output on my Jot, they were pretty underwhelming for rock music (classic and modern) and other modern/synthetic stuff. They had that "magical" imaging/fidelity for strings and female vocals that everyone raves about. The HD-6XX's again were plenty loud off the stock single-ended cable. For reasons I can't explain (because I"m not an EE, nor do I work for Schiit) the Jotunheim is able to provide a lot more power out it's XLR output than it's single-ended output. It's that it can't play them *loud* AND be quick/dynamic and full.įor Christmas my wife got me a 3rd party (periapt) balanced XLR cable for them. Started out with the BlasterX G6 as well, then moved onto the iFi Hip-Dac which is basically a mini Zen Dac with a battery. It's not that the Fiio can't play them *loud*. There is significant performance/sound quality improvements to running the HD-6XX's off the Jot. You definitely cant go wrong with it, and the build is much better than the K5 Pro. Just kidding, that is a joke about the old beef between Amir M and Jude about Schiit. And I have a Fiio Q1 (I don't know if it's the mkII or not I'm not sure it matters much) and a Schiit Jotunheim. Amir from audiosciencereview preferred the K5 Pro, so naturally as a user of Head-Fi you have to buy Zen Dac instead. Stack, $238-4,498. If you're looking for something different-tubes, multibit DACs, etc, you can also create your own system by choosing a separate amp and DAC from our broad line and stacking them on top of each other.I own a pair of Sennheiser HD-6XX's. Main Amps: ZMF Pendant Schiit Mjolnir 1 (full cap modded w/ Elna 1/2 & Mundorfs) PC Chain: PC USB -> iPurifier3 -> IFI Zen DAC Signature V1 -> speakers Extra chain. Tons of power and a very low noise floor, ideal for any headphone Plus, it can be customized with an ES9028 DAC, or MM phono preamp.Įnd-game performance for both balanced and single-ended sources and headphones Jotunheim 2, from $399. Jotunheim 2 is a fully balanced amp that works perfectly with pretty much any headphone-balanced, single-ended, IEM, planar, whatever. No obsolescence-modular and upgradable for the future Single-box desktop solution with an added DAC card With 500mW of Class A bias and 3500mW RMS power output, it delivers great sound, and tons of power.Įxcellent performance for virtually any headphone Asgard 3 is an insanely affordable, configurable amp or amp/DAC that works with pretty much any headphone. IFI audio claims that its Zen their measurements of schiit modius vs micro BL. Much higher power, optical input, gain switchingĪsgard 3, from $249. of Schiit: the Magni 3+ and Magni Heresy. It also provides automatic UAC1/2 switching for console compatibility, optical input for monitor and console compatibility, and stereo microphone input, so it is also an ideal choice for for gaming or home office use. Hel 2E, $199. Hel 2E ups the game with much higher power output than Fulla E. It also provides a microphone input, so it is perfect for gaming or home office use. Fulla plugs into virtually any computer and drives most headphones with ease. Im after any comparison experience, or any alternatives sub£300 for a headphone DAC amp to stream from a PC. Or go for a "stack" (separate amp stacked on top of DAC) for more flexibility.įulla E, $109. These three sit at the top of my list for a cost effective upgrade to my dacmagic XS which runs out of juice too easily with low sensitivity / high impedance phones. Good news! We have plenty of one-box options. So you don't want to give up a lot of desk space, but you want better sound.
